Solar panels help keep a constant flow of power backed by batteries allowing christine to boondock anytime.
Roadtrek solar panels.
This challenge was solved when i realized i could place a solar panel 47 x 1 4 x 21 3 inches in the very back of the van in the underneath storage area accessible from the rear doors.

We have seen impressive solar systems on roadtreks and read about others.
Roadtrek revolutionized the boondocking experience with the introduction of ecotrek a lithium power module that takes the worry out of battery management and lets you enjoy the campervan lifestyle to the fullest.

Not yet sure if that s doable.
Having downsized from a class a fifth wheel the roadtrek let s them travel more frequently.
The client got a 300w solar charging system which can feed about 75ah day onto the 220ah agm battery bank via a blue sky mppt charge controller to keep the starter battery topped off we also included a trik l start which lets a small amount of current flow from the house battery bank.
So if i wasn t going to place it on the roof the challenge became where to store the solar panel when not being used in the smallest of the roadtrek models.

I m going to try and mount one 200 250 ish watt panel vs two 36 cell panels.
A 100 watt panel would generate 400 watt hours a day and 400 watts of panels would generate about 1600 watt hours in a given day.
Charge your batteries when plugged into shore power.
Then there are the factory installed solar systems like on the etrek.
Solar panels are sold in varying sizes but a 100 watt panel is a commonly found size particularly for rvs.
I have a 1999 roadtrek think i ll do the 200 watt solar with a mppt controller.
The charge controls give you the flexibility to charge from all sources including the engine generator solar and shore power.
Thanks for clarifying some things for me.
No hook ups required.
Looks like the new controller s can handle the power of the 60 cell solar panels.
Solar panels produce less power when hot so expect lower solar output during hot days.
But most of us are not full timers like campskunk nor do we have a compressor fridge to keep powered like jim lever nor do we have banks of 8 batteries to keep charged like etrek owners.
Campskunk s and jim lever s systems come to mind.
