Roof Boards Wet

Wanted to add more cellulose but installer said it would make wet roof worse.

2 layers of shingles. Moisture trapped inside of insulation is a breeding ground for mold and bacteria. For safety reasons it is best only to work on the roof when all surfaces are dry. Wet insulation means trapped moisture that will slowly degrade the entire roofing system from the decking to the building itself.

Trapped moisture encourages corrosion of roofing fasteners and rusting of steel studs and wall ties which reduce wind uplift ratings. The osb and in fact any wood panels must be allowed to dry completely depending on how wet the panels are this could be a few days before any roofing material is applied to avoid trapping moisture under the roof material that could cause edge swell and buckling. To gain access to the roof use proper ladders or scaffolding which should also be dry to prevent slips. Wear soft soled shoes and follow all common safety practices when working on the roof.

Trapped water will boil when the sun heats the roof and the shingles will then have small pits where the. It s a problem that demands immediate attention and there are no quick fixes.
